🎮 Ghosts 'n Ghouls Color Rearrangement

Why rearrange colors?

Ghosts 'n Ghouls stores Arthur's full palette in hex format in one specific order, but the sprites read them in a different order. So they need to be rearranged to visualize how sprites truly use it in-game. The original order is the one stored in hex, but the rearranged order is how Tile Molester and the sprites in-game apply it.

📁 Stored in Hex (Original Order)

F1 11 F0 6B FE CA FB 97 F8 60 F7 50 F9 AC F7 8A F5 68 FA A7 FC C9 FF FF FA BD FC 60 F8 00 F1 11

This is how the palette is stored in the game's ROM files (hex format).

🎨 How Sprites Use It (In-Game Order)

F1 11 F0 6B F8 60 F7 50 FE CA FB 97 F9 AC F7 8A F5 68 FA A7 FA BD FC 60 FC C9 FF FF F8 00 F1 11

This is how the sprites actually read and apply the palette in-game.

Rearrangement Pattern:

  • Swaps colors 3-4 with colors 5-6
  • Swaps colors 11-12 with colors 13-14

Use the "Rearrange Colors" button above to automatically apply this transformation to visualize how sprites truly use the palette in-game.
